How Do I Know If I Need a Business Coach?
What is A BUSINESS COACH?
A business coach works with a business owner, CEO, or nonprofit executive director to provide an additional experience-based perspective on business challenges around growth and strategy.
The scope of business coaching goes beyond just the operations of the business, but also includes coaching through work and life balance challenges and issues around change leadership and management. I specifically have worked with leaders to coach them through tough decisions.
I understand the challenges and often overwhelming stress that comes with running a business and have made or seen every bad decision in the book (and some not in the book…) and look forward to helping you and your business thrive.
How Do I Know if Business Coaching Is Right for Me?
If you ever wished you had a business colleague who you could confide in and expect absolute candid feedback and advice, business coaching may be for you. Often times, clients will tell me that they wish they could get advice from other executives in their field but don’t want to show weakness or risk a competitor learning secrets about their business. Because all coaching is confidential under the ICF Code of Ethics, clients need not worry. In addition, I will not coach a current business clients’ competitor.
Do You Only Work With Established Companies?
No. I have worked closely with startup companies through all stages of development. I work especially well with entrepreneurs who have a strong drive, but are unsure how to put strategic business planning and practices in place to ensure a strong foundation.
Do You Offer OTHER Consulting Services?
In addition to coaching, I provide brand development, marketing, public relations, and advertising services. I also refer to trusted partners in the areas of financial management and capital development.
HOW ARE COACHING AND PRICING STRUCTURED?
Pricing varies depending on the kind of coaching. While I offer ongoing coaching, many times these engagements will begin with a one-time engagement. I also offer workshops and presentations on a variety of nonprofit and business topics.
John Dawe, MNA, CNP
Business Coach
John Dawe received a Masters with Distinction in Nonprofit Administration from the North Park University School of Business and Nonprofit Management in 2016. He has written and/or reviewed more business plans than he can count, helped see nonprofits, associations, and businesses navigate uncertainty and change. He is currently pursing his certification as an recovery coach through CCAR and donates coaching services to others in recovery from addiction.
“John brought forward strategies that I hadn’t considered, and gave me a solid plan to include them in my business strategy.”
John led our strategic planning retreat and helped us define our business values, refine our target audience/market, and clearly identify the roles of our newly-formed executive team, and got us all speaking the same language. The result has been better communication, additional respect, and real results as we grow our organization.
About a year after launching my company and receiving seed funding, I had hired several employees and we all did whatever needed to be done at work. As we continued to grow, it became clear I needed to make a change. John’s advice on making the staffing changes I needed to make combined with his experience in dealing with growth-change dynamic shifts helped me so much.
